Lisa Oidvin: An Illustrator’s Biography
Born and raised in Oslo Norway, Lisa was trained as an artist from the age of two by her grandfather, a successful artist and craftsman. Lisa had her first art show as a teenager participating in a group exhibition “Ungdommens Kulturmønstring” in Oslo. She made her way to San Francisco, California where she attended the prestigious California College Of The Arts on a scholarship from Norway. Here she studied Industrial Design and Fine Art. In her first year of art & design school, she sold her homework drawings to a car company where she was invited to sit and draw their classic cars. For them, it was a great attraction as customers would line up and see what Lisa was drawing. For her it was merely a study of chrome. Having fans while doing her homework was a great bonus. During her senior year she designed ‘The Requester’, a concept for wearable music technology that caught world wide attention and was written about in trend magazines in the US and UK. Today she lives and works as an Illustrator in Southern California. She draws on anything that takes ink, creating art to go on apparel, toys, games and packaging as well as just paper. Lisa has a profound love for the arts and considers herself to be very lucky to be able to create art every day as a job. She has also created a line of greeting cards called LoveLifeCards that is oriented toward pets and in turn gives back to the community by donating a percentage of her profits to animal charities. Lisa says, “the purpose of my art is to contribute art to the world that communicates to people. Every day is a chance to create a new piece of art and move a project forward. I love my job”.
